Located in the City of Oshawa, Bloom Retirement Community is looking for a Health Services Manager – to fill a permanent full-time day (40h) position.  All services in the organization are designed to meet the needs and well-being of our residents. Specifically, your daily life with us will look like:

  • Provide a range of nursing care and treatments in order to maintain and restore residents health and to help prevent illness
  • Proactively assist and support the residents
  • Adhere to standards and legislation in accordance with the RHRA and ORCA Ontario Retirement Communities Association code of ethics
  • Help maintain the relationship of trust with residents’ family and friends as well as with various service providers (LHIN)
  • Respond to all emergency situations
  • Act as an intermediary for various external service providers (physicians, pharmacists, LHIN, etc.)

The ideal person has :

  • A proven desire to work with seniors
  • Good listening skills
  • Good analytical skills, good judgment
  • Good flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to analyze, solve problems and make decisions

Required qualifications :

  • RPN, Degree in a nursing education program 
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in nursing with a minimum of 1 year in administration
  • Member of the CNO (College of Nurses of Ontario)
  • A working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with  personnel management
  • At least 2 to 5 years of experience in nursing
  • Strong written and spoken English

  • Ensure and optimize quality standards in the use of food
  • Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure great teamwork
  • Maintain inventory of food, utensils and equipment
  • Develop and Maintain a food cost budget
  • Perform meal preparation while supervising and mobilizing staff in the kitchen
  • Use products and equipment according to the safety, quality, hygiene and cleanliness rules and standards in effect
  • Cleaning of the kitchen equipment
  • Visual aspect of meals
  • Providing direction to the staff regarding prep work, plating of food and the orientation of new employees
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Strong written and spoken English

  • Provide the knowledge necessary to establish and work within an operating budget
  • Prepare preliminary quote requests for maintenance and repair projects while analysing company proposals in order to make the best choice (costs, deadlines, quality)
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors
  • Accept the work and ensure the quality of service given by subcontractors
  • Manage and coordinate maintenance staff
  • Check and forward invoices to the concerned parties
  • Work in coordination with the technical department for work to be carried out under the maintenance contract
